Strings are an integral data type used in many programs and in various syntaxes. Specifically, a string is a series of characters "strung" together, and within our data we typically see text values in strings - "text". Additionally, strings are always contained by " ", or ' '.
In Tableau Desktop, using string functions within our calculated fields can gain us additional insight into our data. There string functions offered by Tableau are quite numerous - so I created a simple cheat sheet that can be used as a quick reference to help you wrap your head around them.
