About The Data School

Get to know The Data School

New to data or never heard of Tableau and Alteryx? Not a problem! The Data School is training the next generation of data analysts and Tableau and Alteryx specialists.

Our paid training programme starts with four months in one of our offices where you’ll learn the best data analytics technologies from our industry-leading coaches.

What happens during training?

Whilst in training, you'll be working with the rest of your cohort on client projects, helping you to develop soft skills, including people management and presenting, whilst making friendships along the way. You will also learn broader skills about storing, managing and presenting data, as well as personal skills to help boost your confidence in becoming an exceptional consultant.

Once your training is complete, you'll put your skills into practice with 3-4 placements across two years, with clients from many different sectors. Our Data Schoolers have enjoyed placements at some of the UK's leading businesses, including PwC, JLL, LNER and Inmarsat.

Is The Data School right for you?

Everyone is welcome at The Data School. We encourage a broad and diverse group of people to apply, regardless of experience or qualifications.

Whilst some of our team have backgrounds in data or maths, we don't ask for entry requirements related to your experience, education, or existing technical skills, and we welcome both career starters and career changers.

The qualities we look for in our applicants are those who are extremely curious, keen to learn, happy to work with others, and open to feedback.

Meet our coaches:
Lorna Brown
London, UK

Lorna started her data journey during her masters degree in 2014. Due to her love of sports and data, she became part of the second cohort of The Data School UK.

Once Lorna had finished The Data School, she went on to speak at many Tableau Conferences, which involved Speed Tipping.

Now Lorna co-leads the community initiative Workout Wednesday with several others and co-leads the North West UK Tableau User Group. She also authored the book Tableau Desktop Cookbook (2021). Lorna is one of our Tableau Visionaries and Tableau Public Ambassadors.

In her spare time she loves her cats and sports, especially Rugby League.
