The point of Dashboard Week is to get the consultants working very, very quickly through a brand new data set each day. Some days require data prep, some don’t. Some days have complex data, some don’t. It’s a total surprise each morning and the time has come for DS49 to apply everything they've learned in training.
The rules for dashboard week are pretty simple:
- They must work independently, unless otherwise specified.
- If data prep is required, they can use Alteryx, Prep, SQL or Power Query, unless otherwise specified.
- They must create a sketch of their plan for their dashboard and show this during their presentation.
- The dashboard they create must be uploaded to Tableau Public or Power BI Service (and embed it into their blog). If no visualisation tool is specified in the challenge, they can choose themselves.
- They must write a blog post detailing their work throughout the day.
- At 3:30 pm, they will present their data prep, sketch, viz, and anything else they would like to present.
For day 1, DS49 will be analysing Chelsea’s Performance Insights data that was part of the CFC Performance Insights Vizathon held earlier this year.
The challenge is to build a report on one or more of the provided mock data sets from the link below.
Tools to be used:
- Power BI Desktop
- Power Query or Alteryx (if data prep is required)
As this is day 1 and you might be struggling with scoping the work, think about one or more of these topics below. But if you have a different angle you’d like to take, go ahead.
- Load Demand (E.g. Games & matches played, season availability, training sessions and load.)
- Injury History (E.g. Current injury status, injury risk category, most recent injury.)
- Physical Development (E.g Physical test capabilities, development plans, strength & conditioning logs, areas of priority.)
- Biography (E.g Players details such as photo, nationality, position, age, team, league.)
- Recovery (E.g Nutrition, performance behaviour adherence, sleep, wellness.)
- External Factors (E.g Outside influences that may impact an individual's performance. Environmental, dynamics, cohesion, motivation.)
