Dashboard Week Day One

by Kerstin Möller

This morning we received our first order for the first Dashboard week:

Spoiler alert! At this point I want to say that Alteryx is not my favorite tool 😉. This resulted in me being able to query the API but not develop a dynamic APP.

After lunch, I decided to focus on the dashboard. Since I lacked the data from the APP, I improvised a little. Unfortunately, I didn't get the idea to simply query several months with the URL.
The title should be dynamic and have an input field for the zip code (missing now, unfortunately). Then the dashboard splits into two halves. On the left side general, on the right side only related to the type of crime. In addition, the crimes should still have a dynamic description.

I like clean dashboards. But the danger is that it leaves many questions unanswered or incomprehensible. The time pressure until the deadline ensured that I could not implement everything I wanted. Around 16:00 o'clock I uploaded it to Tableau Public.

After the task, there was a feedback round. That's always very helpful to avoid repeating the same mistakes and to learn from them. I am not satisfied with my performance. Unfortunately, the preparation of the data didn't work out and some mistakes crept in on the final dashboard. But what the heck, tomorrow is a new day and then I know roughly what to expect.
