Dashboard Week Review

Inspired by Ed Hayter, I decided to rate the works I produced during dashboard week as well.

Day 1 - UK Crime Overview

Rating: 5

This dashboard is very mid. It is enough for what I was trying to show, which was a high level dashboard for overview. But it just doesn't look good and won't be able to draw people attention. I would like to mention the main focus of the was to create an Alteryx App where users can customise what data goes in the dashboard, which I managed to create, and I was proud of that part, but not so much for the dashboarding side.

Day 2 - Recreating Tableau dashboard in Power BI

Rating: 8.5

I think I did a good job with this one. I made some slight adjustments to the design in my recreation and I think it makes the dashboard more effective in terms of showing insights. I don't have anything bad to say about the task. I really enjoyed this one and I like the look of my final dashboard.

Day 3 - NASA APIs

Rating: 7

I overscoped on the third day. I wanted to make a dashboard about space weather, but at the end I only had time to focus on one element and I chose solar flares. My dashboard is not really informative, but that is mainly because the data set is quite small. I am okay with the final output. Probably I will finish the original idea later when I have time.

Day 4 - Billboard top 100 boybands

Rating: 8.5

I like this one a lot. It was fun to make and fun for the user to explore as well. However, I failed to finish formatting before my presentation, so it took away some points for me. But overall I like this one a lot.

What I learnt in dashboard week

I did learn a lot of technical skills this week. But my biggest takeaways are that time management is really important and it is crucial to know when to stop perfecting a piece of work, which I am not good at either. So it was a good experience for me. It makes me reflect on how I work. I enjoyed it.
