You may have wondered how your Tableau Server is being used. Fortunately all the information about site usage, user interactions and much more are stored within a PostgreSQL database on the Tableau Server Repository. This is fantastic if you are wanting to perform a 'meta' analysis of your server.
A great feature of PostgreSQL is that it can be accessed directly from either Tableau Desktop or Server, so your analysis can be live.
Connecting to PostgreSQL is the same as connecting to any other server, just select it from the data connect page in Tableau. You may have to select the 'carrot' as it may not be one your default server connection options.
