Tyler McKillop

Tyler graduated with an MChem in Chemistry from the University of Bath in 2023. His final year project focused on the development of semiconductor thin films, and it was during this research that he first discovered an interest in data analysis. He particularly enjoyed using tools like Mnova and Excel to make sense of complex experimental results and trends.

After graduating, Tyler spent several months travelling. He explored South East Asia with friends and later went solo around Japan. Experiencing a mix of cultures and environments deepened his curiosity about the world, something that continues to influence the way he thinks and approaches problems.

Since discovering Tableau, he has been fascinated by the different ways data can be visualised to tell a story or uncover insights. While preparing for The Data School application, he enjoyed experimenting with chart types and learning how to structure dashboards. He is especially looking forward to exploring more advanced visualisations, including violin plots, and strengthening his skills in data preparation using tools like Tableau and Alteryx.

Outside of work, Tyler enjoys cooking and baking for friends and family, listening to music, going to music events, and watching films. One of his goals this year has been to listen to a new album every week, something he’s managed to stick to so far.
