Thomas’s interest in data began during his undergraduate studies, where he focused on quantitative research methods using R. He explored the impact of government policies on political behaviour in the UK and Europe, and during his postgraduate studies in International Political Economy, he examined environmental governance and the green transition, with a focus on post-Soviet economies.
Now a Data School Consultant at TIL, Thomas continues to deepen his data expertise while developing key consulting skills. Currently in his P3, Thomas has completed data engineering training to fortify his understanding of backend processes, including data pipelines, ETL/ELT, and integration. This complements his frontend BI experience, providing him with a comprehensive view of the full data lifecycle. Through practical applications, such as a web analytics project, he has gained hands-on experience with Python, Git, Airbyte, AWS, Kestra, Snowflake, and dbt.
After completing his P2, Thomas has gained a year of experience at Europe’s largest defence contractor, developing strong Tableau and Alteryx skills and quickly learning large-scale organisational processes. Key projects include:
Alteryx Apps: Enabled users to submit data via a user-friendly interface, performing validation checks before storing it in a central warehouse. This data feeds dashboards that visualise resourcing forecasts, highlighting supply-demand trends, budget alignment, and attrition risks.
Project Management Dashboards: Built a suite of dashboards from a new reporting warehouse, providing project managers with a centralised view to monitor compliance and project performance.
