Lorenz graduated from the University of Leicester with an MEng in Aerospace Engineering. Having a role on visualising and analysing his final year group project data on tidal turbines via MATLAB sparked an interest in the world of data for him after graduating.
Certified and skilled in Tableau and Alteryx, he has been able to utilise these tools to provide clients insights within a range of industries such as wealth-management, sport, and transport.
He is also certified in Microsoft Power BI.
Having worked within BAE Systems Data & Analytics hub across several departments/functions, he has leveraged his technical skills alongside his communication skills to collaborate with data engineers on data outputs to deliver key insights to senior stakeholders and wider members within BAE Systems. As a result he has built a variety of dashboards in different backgrounds, some of which has had external and internal BAE impact, such as:
Project value & engagement - Allowing stakeholders to track the value and status of projects.
Non-Conformance monitoring - A productionised dashboard that lets users to track the trend of non-conformances, how many require action, and if they're getting closed on time.
High-level HR summary/consolidation views - Consolidating views for quick reporting of trends for users.
Overall business performance measures - A KPI dashboard that allows senior executives to be able track key KPI performance over the last period of time.
Certified in SQL and proficient in Snowflake, he is capable of writing queries that transform data in its desired & required format. Has had some experience in creating tables and views for live connection to Tableau as well as having a clean, structured raw datasource/view of the data.
With his broad and extensive skillset, it allows him to be able to use these tools to prep, clean, and manage data ready to be visualised in a full start-to-finish pipeline.
Outside of work he mainly enjoys sports and fitness, particularly volleyball and weightlifting.
