Jules comes from a background in Biology, holding a Master’s degree from the University of Bristol and publishing research in evolutionary biology and genetics. During his studies he discovered a passion for bioinformatics, driven by the analytical and data-focused aspects of the field.
At the Data School, Jules built and implemented a new system for product categorisation across multiple platforms, enabling new reporting capabilities and supporting more informed decision-making within the business. He also transformed and modelled data to create an employee expertise dashboard, helping stakeholders identify potential candidates with the right experience for upcoming roles.
Alongside his analytics work, Jules has developed strong data engineering capabilities. He is Snowflake SnowPro-certified, has hands-on experience with SSIS and dbt, and has contributed to in-house data engineering training, helping colleagues deepen their SQL skills, adopt modern data practices and optimise their use of Snowflake and its innovative capabilities. As a data engineer, he has designed and built bronze, silver, and gold layer tables, maintained through stored procedures and orchestrated efficiently to support robust, scalable pipelines.
