Harvey holds a Masters in Astrophysics from Royal Holloway, University of London, which is where his passion and experience with data developed rapidly. His dissertation focused on a technique known as aperture photometry which is a method of measuring the distance and age to stars by observing the brightness and color of light they emit. Through this work, Harvey developed a novel Python routine which could automate the star detection and brightness measurement process, enabling the efficient analysis of astronomical images.
Outside of university, Harvey has worked as a customer service assistant at railway stations across London, often having to deal with high pressure situations and requiring impeccable customer service to ensure passengers get the information they need. Furthermore, he has worked closely with a transport consultancy to assist in report and review writing to assist in improving the customer service experience for passengers. Harvey is looking forward to assisting The Information Lab's clients with their queries and problems.
Outside of education and professional work, Harvey can be found bouldering at climbing gyms across London as well as roaming the streets with his camera. He also enjoys playing the electric guitar.
