Amy’s interest in data analytics began at Loughborough University, where she obtained an MSc in Applied Sport Performance Analysis. It was during this time that she was first introduced to Tableau in a Sports Analytics module, which ignited her passion for data visualisation. She quickly applied her newfound knowledge in her role as a Performance Analyst with Loughborough Lightning Netball, using Tableau to enhance data communication and deliver clearer insights to coaches and athletes, helping them to become 2024 Super League Champions.
For her master’s dissertation, Amy conducted research with the team inspired by current football performance analysis trends, focusing on an “integrated approach” to understanding player performance. She combined event data from video analysis with accelerometry and LPS data collected from Super League matches to explore the physical demands on players during different phases of play, offering more nuanced and detailed insights into their performance.
Amy’s experience at Loughborough has sparked her passion for data analytics, which has led her to The Data School. She is excited to develop her skills with new software’s and explore the applications of data across diverse fields.
Outside of work Amy is, unsurprisingly, a big sports fan. She has a background in playing basketball and still enjoys playing netball in her free time.
