Ahsen Polat

Ahsen studied ecotrophology at the HAW-Hamburg and already got her first contact with data analysis in the form of market research projects during her study. This included the analysis of eating behavior in the canteen. This involved data collection and extensive data analysis using the "Sawtooth" software, which she was able to familiarize herself with intuitively. Beside that Ahsen worked a lot with SPSS, which is a software for statistical data analysis as part of the Empirical Social Research and Statistics module in the degree programme.

During her study and afterwards, Ahsen pursued various activities and realized that there is a way how to finally turn her passion for analysis and numbers into a profession as a data analyst. The six-month internship at Nestle in quality assurance played a big part in finding her passion and shaping the hard and soft skills. Above all, this includes communicating with customers as well as with colleagues across departments. Regularly analyzing complaints based on collected data and presenting them to higher authorities was part of the daily business. Presenting pure data in an understandable and interesting way was a great success. Thanks to that internship, she was able to familiarise herself with some SAP tools, which was surprisingly interesting.

With an emphasis on nutritional counselling, Ahsen is also accostumed to consulting methods and client interactions.

Outside of work, her enthusiasm for sports and food/nutrition keeps her busy; or a new skill, like a foreign language, is being acquired.
