TDA-C01 exam. How was it?

Last week I had the opportunity to take the Tableau Certified Data Analyst exam with Pearson.

The exam itself was not complicated. There are questions related to data types and calculations (including LODs and table calcs). However, these questions are basic, and they are not too complicated.

Key Points to look after:

  • The exam has 55 questions in total
  • a system check is needed, so make sure you have time to do it before the exam starts. Also, don't forget about the check-in (30 minutes before to the exam).
  • there are questions about tableau desktop tableau server and tableau prep.
  • there are questions with multiple answers, so make sure you know the topic really well.
  • maximum time: 2 hours
  • there are a few practical questions in the second part. Make sure you save your workbook so that the answer can be considered (CTRL + S)

The exam itself is supervised, so you are not allowed to speak or to have you phone nearby. At the time of check-in you will be asked to take some pictures with your desk and your surroundings. You might also need to show the desk and the exam area on the video call if you are asked.

Further Suggestions:

  • Make sure you are giving yourself enough time for the practical questions. The questions can take a lot of time so it's better to save some time for them and not stay too long on other questions.
  • Some questions might take longer that others. Make sure you skip and bookmark them if you don't know the answer so that you can come back and answer them when you complete the other ones.
  • Make sure you familiarize with Tableau file types and folders, and also with Tableau server because there are several questions related to this topic.
