Project Manager - Day Two-Fin

by Ozlem Sigbeku

I was meant to do a blog post per day of my week of being a project manager at the Data School but, even though the project was nice enough, time-wise, I was swamped. Busyness can be charaterised by being busy all the time, or by being very busy in a condensed time-frame. I was a victim of the latter last week and my blog plan fell to the wayside.

Excuses discussed, let me describe the rest of my week as project manager (PM). It was calm in the sense that the graciousness of our client continued through the week: At the beginning of the week, I had discussed our team shortage toward the end of the week (we would be three people down on Thursday and Friday) and the client had alleviated us of one task; then, by Tuesday, we had discovered one task would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to complete and she had alleviated us of that task too.

The food, of course, continued to flow, as did the Alteryx workflows and eventually the Tableau dashboards too. In the most holistic sense, the project proved uncomplicated, which freed the team up to be creative in the simplicity of their dashboard designs, workflows, handovers and any demoing of potential solutions. What resulted was a great outcome for the client, which is all I could have asked for as a PM.

Overall, it was a  successful week. All that’s left is to do some finishing touches and submit the work to the client.
