How to make a pie chart in Tableau

In this blog post I am going to try and teach you how to make a pie chart.

A pie chart can be quite useful for grouped of data, that has varying quantities, and can readily be distinguished by the pie segments, usually about 3-4 segments is recommended. Pie charts are a good way to compare parts of data to a whole at a glance, especially when the segments are quite different, unlike in the data I've chosen here :(.

step 1: change automatic in the marks card to pie

step 2: drag the category field over the colour part on the marks card

step 3: drag the quantity field (value/measure) over the angle part on the marks card and change the view from standard to entire so the pie chart fits the whole workbook.

Hope this helps and works out for you too :)
